Definitely sign up for this incredibly unique experience! Judy is a wonderful human being, guide, educator, and ambassador of the earth. We learned about the environment, as we followed the goats through the beautiful scenery as they fed. Turkey Man and Jack the dog were wonderful companions. Our boys enjoyed “herding” the goats as we went on our journey and feeding them apples. What an awesome way to spend the morning.

What a great experience! It was so fun to spend time with Judy and her goats! Judy is a wealth of knowledge about goats, permaculture, and sustainable agriculture. Her 30 acres are gorgeous and diverse, and it was so interesting to walk with the goats while they feed on the variety of greenery that they encounter. They are very friendly and cute. Judy's dog Jack who protects the goats is also a beautiful and friendly creature who you will get to spend time with. Learning about how to raise free range goats was so cool. A very unique, inspiring, and informative adventure. Don't miss it.

Judy is great! She really gives you a history of the area and is passionate about farming and keeping things in balance with nature. You will leave with a new found appreciation for the importance of agriculture and how to keep things in balance and natural. She does have a beautiful big Doggy named Jack, who is a sweety. He helps guard the Goats in their area and is brought on the walk on a leash. Do make sure to spray with tick and bug repellent beforehand. Also, given the suggestion of wearing long sleeves and pants, which is needed, I'd wear light and white if possible to keep cool on the warmer/hotter days.
This year Judy had some baby Goats, which is not the norm for her, but we were able to feed them milk before and water after the hike.
Judy is patient, kind and willing to answer any and all questions. She knows the area well and is surely a part of the revitalization of farming in the area for the next generation!! Go say hi to Judy and the Goats!! :)

We love meeting with Judy and her goats. It’s personal and educational every time. We come from a ways away so she’s patient and personable with us. We have so much respect for Judy, her knowledge, experience, and what she does. The goats are adorable and hilarious. It’s not really something for kids, but you gain a lot of respect for farmers, the animals, and the land alike. We enjoy it as a couple because we feel like we get what we put into it. It’s a truly authentic learning and nature experience.

This was such a wholesome experience. Judy was very personable, knowledgeable, and just plain fun to spend time with. My girlfriend and I learned so much during this experience, from herding the goats to farming responsibly through permaculture.
We visited during October when the foliage was changing so the pasture land was extremely stunning as well. The goats were happy. We had plenty of opportunities to feed them apples, berries, and leaves that we harvested off the land.
Judy was mindful of time, but since we had nowhere else to be we were able to stay an extra 2 hours.
Overall, I cannot recommend this experience enough.

What an adventure! Shepherdess Judy was an amazing guide and her goats were magical. Three others and myself were greeted by Judy as we parked (easy to find with a sign off the road). Once we were ready to go (pants and long sleeve shirt is an absolute must) we started the walkabout and after a short walk were ready to meet Jack (protector-dog for the goats) and the herd. The walkabout continued as we passed a pond (saw turtles!) and the goats were already grazing. Nibbling on what they wanted while Judy explained more about her farm and her goats. We all continued into a more forested area where that the goats loved! What a lush variety of plant life. The herd pretty much let us know when they had enough to eat and started to head back to their home. It was about two hours long. Great time, well worth the time and cost. Judy was very knowledgable, polite, and friendly!

This is a very personalized, intimate and unique experience! Once you meet with Judy, you make a small hike up a hill- greeting goose, ducks, etc! Then you get to meet your new goat friends and Jack the protector! We walked along bushy paths throughout the forest with our goat friends watching them eat all varieties of greenery while Judy explained about the topography and lay of the land. Which plants were poisonous, which plants the goats preferred, which plants were edible to humans! It was an amazing hands-on experience and educational time. Judy is an amazing person and amazing storyteller- we will be recommending her to others! Make SURE to wear good shoes and pants! There are wild bushes/plants growing and some have thorns- and make sure to bring sunscreen or a hat!

We highly recommend this for everyone as there is SO much to be learned from this experience; both in terms of the big picture about the health of our planet and in terms of small details like what happens to the soil during a goat walkabout. My family spent 6 days upstate and this was our favorite day by far. Judy's goat walk about is so much more than it's name.... She welcomed us on to her farm and taught us so much about farming, the land and all the animals. We got to bottle feed the baby goats which was so precious. Each goat had their unique personality and we all had a different favorite. Everything about this experience is special.... Judy, her farm, the goats and definitely her dog Jack who watches out for all the goats. I highly recommend carving out time for Judy if you are in the area. The drive to her farm is gorgeous. You won't regret it!!

This was truly one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had the opportunity to take part of. The other reviews here had already shaped my expectations to be quite high, but the two hours we got to spend with Judy and her goats were some I’ll remember for years to come. Judy is a captivating speaker, with such a deep well of knowledge and insight on sustainable agriculture that I could have easily listened to her speak for hours. She greeted us kindly and made us feel instantly welcome, and every step through her land towards the goats had me buzzing with excitement. Hearing their jingle as they run down the paths to their grazing grounds is forever stamped on my eardrums as one of my happy sounds. We got to herd them (not an easy, but a deeply satisfying and rewarding task) as Judy shared stories from her life, her work and the land she is raising these animals on. It gave me a world of new perspective, and the sights were breathtaking. If you’re thinking about this, do it. You won’t regret it.

Judy’s not lying about dressing right - boots were the right call but also made the experience more enjoyable because I never was worried about stepping in mud, especially since the goats sometimes were the ones calling the shots in terms of footing. Truly a great time though, and a meaningful glimpse into how a small, local farm makes it. We also perfectly timed our visit for some spectacular fall foliage, which was an incredible bonus. Learned a lot about farming, got a good walk in with some goats, and Judy was always ready to walk us through every step of the way and answer and questions. Highly recommend!!

My wife, teen girls and I had a really lovely morning hanging with Judy, her goats and the rest of her animals. It was a simple but special few hours, we learned some interesting things about farming, and also had the privilege of herding her 13 goats out for their morning meal. My girls love animals, so they loved being so up close and personal with the goats...and in such a gorgeous valley and setting. Def a fun, and off-the-beaten-path idea for anyone who just wants to meet someone new and do something different.

I decided to surprise my girlfriend, Sam, with this experience. Going into it, I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as we pulled in, however, Judy greeted us with beaming smiles and genuine excitement. She went out of her way to find extra clothing for my girlfriend to wear through the walk lest she ruin her clothing. She was unceasingly kind and friendly as well as informative; we learned so much about the goats and sustainable agriculture through the walk. This was not, however, a lecture, but a true conversation. And much like the goats, the topic of conversation wandered all over organically and wonderfully. We could have done it for hours more! Judy showed real interest in Sam and me as people. The walk was also highly calming and therapeutic, and it was quite unique to see what the goats wanted to eat and where that would take them. All in all, it was an experience beyond what I could have hoped for and beyond words. Even after the walk, we spent some time talking to Judy about her garden and her beautiful property. This is an amazing experience, and Judy is an amazing person! You should not hesitate to walk with the goats and with Judy.

Celebrating a friends love for goats on her birthday was made special with Judy! Judy was welcoming and shared her goats with us. The walk with the goats was wonderful as we were able to walk talk and observe the goats in a natural and beautiful setting while Judy explained the nature of goats. It was made special to be able to interact as much or as little as you liked. Setting your own pace or that of the goats allowed you to feel like a goat herder for the day. Of course her dog Jack was also by our side and was adored by all! Judy was very knowledgeable about all the details around goats and was willing to share all with us. A perfect personalized experience. It rained off and on while we were there, and she offered umbrellas. The goats are friendly and entertaining, and obviously well cared for. Judy obviously cares deeply about the land and her animals, and it was a treat to be able to wander with the goats. The pace was leisurely, and there was no gimmicky sales pitch for something else. Absolutely worth the time and money.

This experience is like none other you can find for fun, learning, and enjoying the outdoors around the Catskills! Judy is a truly wonderful host and has amazing knowledge on the environment and sustainable agriculture. She is clearly passionate about her farming and she taught us about the importance of “permaculture” while we walked along with the goats. We enjoyed hearing all about how the goats forage as we watched them in action!
The property is absolutely lovely and totally immerses you in nature as you walk. I was worried before coming that we would be trekking through thick brush or very tall grasses, but there were lots of mowed paths that made it easier for us to move about. Judy also gave us options for where we walked, so there was no expectation that we would climb anywhere that was too tricky for us! I wore athletic leggings with boots, a hat, and a T-shirt with a denim jacket over it. I was very comfortable and felt well protected from bugs and any overgrowth we walked through.
We loved taking a rest from our walk by the beautiful pond, where Judy shared some delicious local pumpkin bread with us. The goats came to join us and foraged around the area wherever we went. They were good natured and fun to watch the whole time! After we concluded our adventure with the goats, Judy was kind enough to show us around her lovely garden and offered us fresh produce to taste along the way. We spotted butterflies and frogs around the lovely property. Judy was a great conversationalist the entire time as well, and she had amazing life experience to share with us!
Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience on our goat walkabout and can’t wait to tell all our friends! It was a well rounded experience of fun, education, enjoying the outdoors, and good company.

This experience is very special. We were drawn by the promise of goats and a walk in the countryside: the experience delivered in the most wonderful way on both counts. Additionally, we met Judy, who is an intelligent shepherd of both goats and people, in that she knows when to teach and talk and when to let others take in the experience on their own. We learned much about the area, the land, the goats and holistic agriculture. We're very grateful to Judy for her time, the delicious pumpkin bread snack and her trust with her land and animals. This is BY FAR the best thing we've ever booked on Airbnb.
